Every Tuesday night, from 5 to 7, dinner is served to people who are presently homeless. Besides dinner there are sometimes times of singing and other services such as free haircuts provided by a retired barber. Several area churches take one Tuesday of the week to provide the dinner. These churches are as follows:
Fresh Visions Community Church, Pastor Roy Newman
New Beginnings Apostolic Church, Pastor Greg Tucker
Kumler United Methodist Church, Pastor Sylvester Weatherall
Elliot Avenue Baptist, Pastor Roger Jackson
St Joseph Parish, Rev. Msgr. Thomas Holinga

Food Pantry — serves nearly 600 households every month with food assistance. We provide short-term emergency food for families and individuals in crisis. People are referred to us from other social service agencies in the community.
Indigent Pharmaceutical

Program — assists persons who need prescription medications to manage long-term, life threatening medical problems. A case manager helps access programs which provide long-term medications for the indigent. These programs are offered by manufacturers of prescription medications but require the cooperation and coordination of patient, physician and vendor. This program has received grants from state, local and federal sources. Since people are usually out of their medication when they come to us, we can usually purchase two months worth of medication for them until their free medicine program benefits take effect.
Emergency Prescription Service — provides short-term assistance for persons who need prescription drugs but have no funds to purchase them. People in need are referred to us by many social service agencies in the community.

Tutoring Mentoring Program — is an 18 year partnership with McClernand Elementary School. Low income at-risk students are matched in a one-on-one relationship with adult volunteers for a weekly program which includes study assistance, recreational opportunities, and activities designed to enhance self-concept, build confidence and provide role models for the students.

Crisis Closet — provides emergency clothing for children and adults and personal care necessities for individuals and families who have experienced a crisis.

Christmas Assistance — Provides "Christmas" for more than 600 low income children and families referred by social service agencies in our community.
Baby Layette Program — provides initial baby clothes, blankets, and items needed by new mothers who have just given birth. The program usually serves families who simply have no other resources to begin to care for their new child.
